How To Use Protonix Take Protonix exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. It
can be taken with or without food.
Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you.
Protonix Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : An allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives) to Protonix. Less serious side effects from Protonix are also uncommon. Continue to take Protonix and talk to your doctor if you experience flatulence (gas), upset stomach or diarrhea, insomnia, or a rash.
Protonix Precautions Tell you doctor if
you have kidney disease, a blockage of your urinary tract (difficulty urinating), a blockage in your intestines, severe ulcerative colitis, or ulcerative colitis complicated by toxic megacolon, glaucoma, or myasthenia gravis. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have numbness or tingling in your hands or feet, liver disease, ulcerative colitis, thyroid problems, high blood pressure, an irregular heart beat, or any type of heart disease, hiatal hernia or reflux esophagitis, enlargement of the prostate, or asthma, chronic lung disease, or allergies. Protonix should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Propantheline may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. If you experience dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, avoid these activities. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking propantheline. Avoid becoming overheated in hot weather. Propantheline increases the risk of heat stroke because it decreases sweating.
Protonix Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : ketoconazole (Nizoral), ampicillin (Omnipen, Principen), or iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Femiron, others). Drugs other then those listed above may also interact with Protonix. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines.
Protonix Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of a Protonix overdose may include headache, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, blurred vision, dilated pupils, hot, dry skin, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, anxiety, seizures, weak pulse, and an irregular heartbeat. Protonix Notes Do not share Protonix with others. Protonix Missed Dose If you miss an Protonix dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. Protonix Storage Store Protonix at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
